Market Regulation & Enforcement Department

Market Regulation & Enforcement Department (MRED) is responsible for CMDA’s legal, licensing & market regulation functions. The department undertakes monitoring and supervision of licensed entities and listed companies to ensure compliance to the laws and regulations of the market. This includes monitoring & supervision activities of the Islamic capital market as well. In addition to this, LRD is responsible for carrying out the prospectus approval processes of CMDA and also has the responsibility to carry out CMDA’s rule making & enforcement processes.

Market Development Department

Market Development Department (MDD) is responsible for undertaking CMDA’s market development initiatives including initiatives for the development of the Islamic Capital Market. The department is responsible for undertaking research for identification of market development opportunities and make proposals for consideration of the policy makers as directed by the CMDA board of directors. In addition to this, MDD is responsible for carrying forward the going public initiative of CMDA which involves identifying potential companies for issuance of securities, approaching them with capital market financing proposals and assisting them with securities offering processes.

Pension Supervision Department

Pension Supervision Department (PSD) is responsible for CMDA’s pension supervision functions. The department undertakes supervision of the Maldives Pension Administration Office (MPAO) in administering the Maldives Retirement Pension Scheme (MRPS) under the pension law and regulations. In addition to this, PSD undertakes supervision of the custodian for MRPS under the custodian license issued by CMDA.

Education & Training Department

Education & Training Department (ETD) is responsible for CMDA’s market awareness & training initiatives. The department is responsible for undertaking activities to create awareness of the opportunities in the market for issuers and investors, both in conventional and Islamic capital market. In addition to this, ETD has the responsibility of carrying out training programs for market intermediaries, board of directors and other executives of listed companies and potential issuers.

Information Technology Department

Information Technology Department aims to propose and implement automation to drive functional efficiencies of CMDA and the market. The department undertakes IT development initiatives and provide IT services to all functions of the Authority.

Institute for Corporate Directors’ & Secretaries (ICDS)

Corporate Directors’ & Secretaries (ICDS) aims to provide professional training opportunities for board of directors & other executives of listed companies and potential issuers of securities.
ICDS also aims to provide professional training opportunities for secretaries of listed companies and potential issuers of securities.
A key focus of ICDS is creating awareness of the fundamental aspects of corporate governance and its application on companies in the local context.

CEO Bureau

CEO Bureau is responsible for undertaking the strategic planning process of the Authority, providing secretarial services to the Board of Directors, Board Committees, the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Executive Committee. In addition to this, the department is responsible for ensuring effective management of international memberships under direction of the Chief Executive Officer and to ensure effective coordination with other functions of the Authority to meet the needs of the Board and the Chief Executive Officer.

Corporate Services

Corporate Services is responsible for finance, HR and admin management of CMDA.
